Default Any financial industry workers willing to help

Any one work within the financial industry and can help me out
Just requested a settlement figure to clear off a loan and they have made a mistake in the letter, instead of the final amount being a few thousand they have quoted me just over £100.00, i have sent this payment off and requested the account be closed.
They are now saying they will send out another settlement figure can i tell them to get lost as i have paid what they requested or will i have to pay the full amount .
Worth a try as its a few grand

Bloomin Hell! That never happens with me. I hope you can get away with it.
If the law is anything like the prices on goods in shops... What you see is what you pay.

    Good Luck

Does the original letter have E&OE written somewhere on it? Basically that would be their get out clause for mistakes.

Would be worth reading any small print on it carefully!

Let us know how you get on.

I would think they'll be able to recover the cost.

(As for prices-they are only ever an invitation to buy- they are never legally binding)

Re: the prices. There has been several instances in the news wherby retailers, i.e comet, currys have had to honour the prices they have advertised items for. Must admit, these have been on their internet sites, but never the less they have had to sell them at the stated price.
It may be of use here?

Have they cashed the cheque? If so then take some legal advice - if they have not then you may be out of luck.

Yes they have sold them at that price but that is only a 'goodwill' measure. As MLC stated it is only an invitation to buy they dont have to sell it to you. I remember in B&Q trying to get a DeWalt hammer drill for £19.99 because the shop staff had put it on the wrong shelf, anyway call for the manager, off to the office we go, shows me some consumer regs book, he looks right and offers me 20% off. No way so storm off to Trading Standards and Citizens Advice, he was right.
