    Default v6 vectra b whistling noise

    hi, ive got a 1996 2.5 v6 vectra which whistles when accelerating , it sounds like an induction noise (it has a k+n filter) but its very high pitched and loud ,, any ideas..?

    to be honest mate the best forum to go on is vvoc, there are loads on there with the 2.5 v6 veccy b, i'm sure they will sort you out.

    My old veccy B V6 made a high pitch whistling noise just before the timing belt failed, well it was actually one of the tensioner pulleys that was shot. Cost me just over £1000 to sort. I'd get it diagnosed ASAP.

    Might be one of the bearings in the tentioner pullys or the guide rollers breaking up, if it does fall apart the belt will come off and cause........... well loads of damage.

    i think i know what the problem is but i cant remember what its called! its at the back of the engine....can anyone post a v6 engine piccy so i can point at it?
    had the same problem on mine years back...

    what, you thinking EGR link pipe???the steel convoluted one coming up by the cambelt drive cover?

    erm...all i can remember is its at the back and was held down by two allen bolts was sort of oval shaped about 6inches wide? (useless i know!)

    i think it was to the right (standing at the front). cant remember why but when i got this guy out to do a diagnosis check (via ecu) he put some 'gum' round it and the sound went away for a while

    i took the filter off and the sound is coming from inside the induction pipe
