    Default 3.0 cdti Power Upgrade.?????

I've had the car several months now and traded in my Zafira GSI to get it.The trade off of power over economy has been worth it up until now.The power of the Vec is smooth and effortless but I'm now starting to miss the kick up the backside I was getting from the Zafira.I've been reading several pages on here about different electronic tuning boxes but the 1.9CDTI seems to be the most talked about, obviously not helping me very much with a 3.0.I've read a few bits and pieces about the tuning of the V6 but am struggling to find a tried and tested result with satisfaction. Its probably just me missing the right threads and the answer to my question is probably in front of me but could someone point me in the right direction of a safe, reliable, not too expensive tuning option to make me smile again.Please.Please.Please...

    Exclamation Remaps are the answer!

Hi Everyone, I'm new to the forum and glad to be here.

    Note to Woodster (I.E Steve)

This has to be a strange coincidence, but I also have just traded in my Zafira GSI for a Vectra SRI 3.0CDTI (and my name is steve too! spooky).

I had the Zafira GSI remaped, as I felt it lacked a bit of torque - so now I have my vectra, I am looking to do the same thing.

I had looked at various differnet options, including a tunning box from tunnit and dragon, but it was primarely a remap I was after (mainly for the point that I prefer it to be stealthy - IE if you have a smash and are half dead, or the bonnet is jammed shut, it is quite difficult to then remove the tunnit box).

After a lot of searching I found 2 companies (1 of which is just about to start doing it) that do the remaps for the 3.0 cdti V6.

    1) Wallace performance in aberdeen www.wallaceperformance.co.uk . This is where I had my remap done on my Zafira GSI. These guys really know their stuff. They are so busy though, they haven't actually advertised the remaps they do for the 3.0 cdti on their website, but if you call them they will tell you all about it.

    2) Angel Tuning (mobile tunning engineers, based all over the UK)
http://www.angeltuning.co.uk/ . I have been speaking to the scottish agent for this company and he assures me that they have almost finished developing the remaps for the vauxhall cdti engines. I am hanging fire for this one as he travels to your place of work or home and seems to be very knowledgeable and cheaper - plus they do a money back guarantee.

However, if angel don't come up with the goodies soon, I will be forced to go for the wallace remap.

One other think - do you notice when you give your 3.0 cdti some serious stick you get a small of diesel fumes coming into the cabin?? I find whenever I really floor it in my 3.0 cdti, the cabin starts to smell like diesel fumes for a few seconds or so.

Hi Steve, coincidences or what..LOL..Good to read your reply.Scottish tuning companies are a good choice for me.Although I am 300 miles south of the borders,I have family in Edinburgh and Dunfermline and will be there all next week trying to grab a quality Scottish sun tan..LOL again..As for your smell of fumes,I cant say I have noticed anything out of the ordinary but what I certainly do find is that I leave huge plumes of smoke when I give it the big un.I would guess the slightest of defects on the exhaust system would be enough to get you choking judging by what comes out of the back.Sorry I cant be of much help mate, but I'm sure somebody else will reply to you soon and send you on the right track.

P.S. Why did you change your Zafy for the Vec.

Ive been working and talking to 4 or 5 tuning box sellers and manufacturers since June of this year in my quest to find the perfect tuning box for the v6 cdti.

There are several problems relating to all of these boxes, and they tend to effect different cars in different ways.

Ive got pages full of information mate, but it would take me hours to right it all.

All id say at this moment in time is that there is something around the corner that should finally solve the various problems tuners are having with this specific engine.

    Andrew

p.s if you want any more info check my profile and you can catch me on msn mate
notbeing funny andy but you have had problems with some boxes and other people have not so dont think its fair to say dont buy one , mine works fine but yours didnt , i dont think its down to the box personally . let the man decide for himself.
