    Default ECU updates

I'm off to the stealers this afternoon to pick up my TC switch (will it/won't it???). While I'm there I'm going to see if they can tech2 enable my BC (it's not active on my SXi ).

Reading Vx's brochures it says the Board Computer is combined with check control systems. Assuming they activate the Trip computer (for fuel consumption and range etc); will they be able to turn on the check control (for bulb failure etc), or are additional sensors required (excluding Tyre Pressure Monitoring) ???

while I'm there, are there any other updates/changes that I should have done, or features they can enable? I'm sure I've read about some people having ECU updates done.

my car is a 55-plate sxi-nav pre f/l with full canbus.

    Thanks in advance...

    Default Update

despite telling me they would have a look when I came in for my parts, I have just rung them and they say they can't look at it yet; have to book it in, so booked in for next friday.

They are now also saying that it looks doubtful that it can be done, but they will have a go (said it depends on if the sensors are installed in the right places, which I can understand given this was a £250 option). Obviously no sensors means no trip BC. They also said it'll take about an hour to do.

Has anyone on here had BC successfully enabled on an SXi spec'ed car?

This is all just educated guesses...

You should be able to get the bulb failure warnings since this is built into the REC and UEC, i.e. no additional hardware requirements. Same for remote control battery voltage.

Brake pad thickness warnings, low washer fluid warnings, outside temperature display, power steering fluid level and tyre pressure warnings probably require additional sensors.

I've been thinking the same regarding the sensors, I'm slowly getting convinced that it may not be worth Vx charging me to hook up tech2 and say it can't be done...

I might whip a wheel off this weekend and look for the brake pad sensor. Anyone know of any other sensors I can look for that are easy to spot?

I need convincing before next Friday! has anyone had this done successfully, if so what car (year and spec)???

Tyre pressure sensors have different valve stems. The low washer fluid sensor has wires coming out near the bottom of the washer fluid tank. The outside temperature sensor is behind the front bumper, easily visible when looking down with the bonnet open.

    Which head unit you got?

Nutron posted up a thread about being able to activate BC on a certain model.
