Urgent or not so urgent ?? Service Warning Light

Hello there, thanks in advance for any assisatnce offered.

My 1.9 CDTi, tonight, has decided to show a service level indicator without any mileage underneath. I have had the car 12 months or so and the last time I checked was still approx 10,000 miles away from a service.

In the last fortnight or so the EMU warning light has shown it's face two or three times but reset by taking the key out of the ignition, locking and unlocking the car and trying again.

I have also had an occasional malfunction with Cruise Control where it fails to engage.

I am dubious about taking it to my main dealer, I have had major issues with them whilst the car was under warranty, although there is a garge with all ex-VX staff close by.

Any advice / experience would be welcomed.

take it to the garage staffed by ex-VX staff...they will look after you and be a darn sight cheaper....

cruise control will prob be the clutch switch....

the service light will just keep coming on, so if you want to leave it a while help yourself, but it's asking nicely....when you get in the car, push the stalk in the dash down and hold it in, that will give you the remaining mileage figure..

Thanks for that, but I have tried pressing the stalk mentioned with no success. What is really puzzling me is the fact that not more than a month ago pressing the stalk gave me a mileage readout of 10,000 miles but both options today don't show a mileage.

Have read elsewhere on the forum that main dealer tech 2 diagnosis is free. Is this for any VX or is it only for warranted vehicles?

they will charge you.... normally £40 -£50..

the independant garage you mentioned may well be able to read your car as well thou..

Now booked the car in for service - £120.00 inc VAT + £1.98 Environmentla Charge for disposal of fluids etc.

We'll see what the Tech 2 readout says at service.
