    Vehicle : Vectra cdti estate

    Trim : Get a

    Engine : Dirty diesel

    Year : 2006

    Default

    cdti = common-rail diesel turbo injection

    dti = diesel turbo injection

    mainly a newer engine and way of fueling, i think anyway

    it's because the 1.9 is a common rail diesel engine whereas the DTi is a pumped system..so the CDti 1.9 makes better power and torque, and uses less fuel by clever engine system designs..

    Simple, the old DTi engine is NOT a common rail engine.
    The 1.9 CDTi is and uses fuel more efficiently.

    It is not just Vx. Vw, Audi, Seat, peugeot, BMW etc etc all have smaller but more efficient/powerful engines.

    Stick a tuning box on the 1.9 and it is up close to 200bhp The 2.2 DTi will only get just over 150bhp

    ALL diesels are injected, so sticking the i on the badge would be an expense

    the i stands for INTERCOOLER

    if the turbo unit doesnt have an intercooler then it runs too hot and you get very poor turbo performance

    think they might have screwed up there, ALL diesel is injected, but not all turbos have intercoolers fitted, look at the older diesels, TD only even though the fuel is injected to make it burn, they might have changed the name but its still the same principal

    if the car doesnt have an intercooler its just a bog standard TD
