Default Which option Taurus Or Sensors !!

    Hi guys,

Does anyone have any experiance of either of the following parking sensors,

I like the idea of the Taurus T123 as there are NO visable sensors it seems to do the same job as a normal sensor , the other option is for a 13mm sensor (paintable) which is just about acceptable on the size.

The thing that puts me off the normal sensors is the visable 2p sized sensor ,

Is there any one out there that has the Taurus fitted

Pugster has a similar reversing sensor system on his motor. It is a strip that attaches behind the bumper without drilling

yeah , thats the type, I'd be interested to know what they are like,

I like the idea of reverse sensors to help with the blind spot (pretty much every thing below the the top of the bootlip) but don't really want to have visable sensors.

I spent some time looking into this. The bottom line was that the taurus was not so good in some situations. Shame really cause I don't want to drill the bumper. I've seen some flush fitting sensors on Audis and Mercs recently that look well cool. I've having a rethink ATM.

Ok guys here’s the info on my reversing sensor kit. It’s by a company called “TRONIQUE” and I think their based in Chester. Had it fitted by Vx dealers when I brought the car (Marshall’s of Leicester). Paid £250 for the system which included fitting by Vx stealers. As Ian T says the aerial/sensor is fixed to the inside surface of the rear bumper, it’s then wired into the reverse light supply and a speaker for the audible tones sits on the rear shelf (saloon). As long as it’s inside the cabin and can be heard you can put it where you like. From the out side looking at the bumper you wouldn’t know it was fitted. Only when reverse gear is selected does it come to life.

Here are the details that came with it.

    Tronique Parking Aid.

The PA2000 is a true parking aid, which gives you an audible warning of unseen objects when reversing, and allows precision parking.

N.B. The system should not be used for reversing at speed, or without regard to what is behind the vehicle.

To gain the full benefit of your system it is important to become familiar with the audibly identified distances.

Please read the following pages to achieve familiarity.

    Introduction

Your system is totally hidden and during installation no modifications have been made to your vehicle’s original specification, apart from this added feature.

The system is automatically activated when reverse gear is selected. At this point three audible tones will be heard (high low high) this signifies correct operation of your parking aid.

Distance identification is also via audible tones and measurements quoted are approximate, as variations are normal on different vehicles. The tones are in three distinct segments and are at 70cm, 30cm, and 10cm.

    Familiarisation Method

    1. Open a rear window or door so that the audible tones can be heard outside the car.
    2. Turn on the ignition but do not start the car.
    3. Select reverse gear, a three tone signal will confirm activation of the aid.
    4. Stand more than a metre from the rear of the car and move slowly towards it, noting the distance at each change in tone.
    5. Repeat this from other points around the bumper area.

When you are comfortable with the distance warnings. Place a non damaging object in your vehicle’s path and reverse towards it. You should now be confident with your parking aid.

N.B. If, when engaging reverse gear, a six-note alarm tone is heard, high low, high low, high low this indicates a problem. Please contact your dealer for rectification, as the system will not detect objects.

Had this fitted now for the last five years without any problems. Goes a bit mental when it’s raining or there are droplets of water on the bumper surface. So my advice is be extra careful in the rain. Will not be able to function properly when reversing at speed; show me a system that can. Thing to remember is parking sensors are there to aid you in reversing not reverse and park the car for you. My opinion is that this kit is excellent for aiding you in parking the big back end of a Vectra. Hope this helps.

I've got to plat a visit to the dealers tomorrow I'll ask for some contact details.

Thanks for the info, it sounds very much like the Taurus T123, I've found someone that sells the Tronique parking aids and have asked for price and info, so I'll let you all know what they say, if its like the Taurus then I may take go for them to give them a try (easier to change than buy a new bumper) ,

I'll keep everyone up dated, mind you it may be about 6/8 weeks as I've got to wait for the new car
