how long does it take

for a fine to arrive on the door step after you have been flashed by a speed camera. i got flashed two weeks gone friday and thought it would have arrived by now, i am starting to wonder if the caravan hitch plate has covered enough of my number plate for the camera not to be able to read it. then again its likely to arrive tomorrow morning as its my bithday

not the best pressie !!!!

They have to send it within fourteen days of the offence, so it could possibly be still winging it's way to you.

3 days over are allowed for postage. so the 14 days becomes 17 and 2 extra days are allowed for the NIP to be sent on a Friday. So you'll have to wait 19 days in total.

Hope it doesn't arrive though.

dunno if it flashed twice as it was through rear view mirror just saw it flash.

I've been counting the days since I went past a van on an M1 bridge (in fact there were 2 vans with cars on the motorway shortly afterwards) that was 1st July I was running late to get to the Alton Towers meet, however it was the weekend of the terrorist attacks so hopefully they were making better use of the technology

perhaps one of our local pc's on here (nice gentlemen ) can confirm that only one flash means theres no film loaded / also i wonder if they can confir that there are some new fangled camera systems going up around the country........cos on the A12 they have just put up a new pole with 6 cameras on it.........3 pointing one way three the other

Nah,as long as they sent it before Friday then it's valid. Even if it didn't get to you, due to any Royal Mail screw up it won't matter, as long as they have sent it within 14 days that's all that matters. When you receive it has nothing to do with it's validity.

Soulman - that'll be SPECS cameras (the average speed over a distance ones).

if they were speed camera's in a van you were caught. if it was ANPR then they were looking for criminals using the road. i suspect they were as you mention they had two cars with them. these were pursuit cars to catch up and stop the vehicle concerned.

usually one flash means nothing, two pictures are needed to calculate the speed over a distance (hence the markings on the road). most speed camera's are empty as they cost to much to maintain/replenish with film. the one's you need to watch out for are the new digital camera's, these are smaller and tend to be in a higher post. they NEVER run out of "film".

always, always look at the bridges when on the motorway......
