    Default Electric Window not working!!!!

    Anyone had this problem....

I can't get my window (front passenger) up. There is no warning light and there is a quiet click after I press the button but no movement from the window.....

About to do that now Wille. There seems to be a special tool that comes with the car to extract the fuse's. Can't seem to find it on my car though.... I'll have a good look. Thank God today its sunny and hot over here....

Do you have a lot of traffic in the back, i.e passengers? sometimes they can kick the door jamb when getting out, this then breaks the small wires in the service gaiter between the door and the B pillar.

VV.... I would'nt have that many in that side of the car. I'm just gonna check the fuse first, everything else seems fine and the swicth is working I can hear click when I press it. I hope to God its not the motor, I've been told it could cost over £200 to fix.....

Regards fuse changes, will I need a security code and how do I remove the fuse???

Best way to check my theory out is to get someone else who has a Vec and swap the connectors over, if only to eliminate it, I had it happen on an Omega, you can't see it but you might be able to finger and thumb feel for a broken wire, I had to slit the rubber gaitor and join em back up in the end

Hi I been away for a few hours. If u havent already fixed it, U do not need a security code for the windows. The extarction tool was in the passenger side fusebox in my vectra. If you do not have the tool, a pair of long nose pliers will do the job. The only thing you have to do is reset the windows after fuse removal (this is to get the one touch up/down working again). To do this, look at a thread I posted a month ago, do a search for wally and you will find the thread.

Many thanks Willie I'll do the re-set tonight. I actually took the car for a wee spin kept my finger on the button and after 5 seconds the window went up..... the fuse' were okay and the swicth is okay. Only thing I can think is the motor either cooled down and started again or the battery is a little flat. I'm going on a long trip Thursday so need to check the battery as well as the oil as well as the tyre pressure etc etc etc....

Good then. I have many electrical funnies on my car. Sometimes the cd is playing itself in the morning. Sometimes the windows appear to open slightly themselves. Weird. But I think things like that are trivia until it causes me real hassle.
