Default How Much for Brake pads & discs

Time has come to change front and back discs and pads as i am getting that scrapping sound. Car done 60k and ive never changed them since ownership. Bought the car with 24k on it, so they have lasted very well.

How much am i looking at (1) from the stealers to supply and fit.
    (2) parts from car shop like Halfords.

The stealers quoted me £183. for back disk & pads to supply and fit.
Kwik fit quoted £180 and the pads for life of car

Ps Back Break kit is £65 from stealers was think of trying to fit them myself but not very good with mechanical thing?

Get the parts in the Kit from VX and get any garage to fit them. My local trye place did my old disks and pads on the front of my astra for £45. So all in £100ish fro the front..... Also £20 just for fitting the rear pads....

Quick question, do the disks and pads need changing all round or just the pads? are the disks down to their min level? Although probably cheaper to buy the kit than just the pads, but may save on labour?
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

When you say £183 for the back disc and pads is that just one side or both the rear ones? Also the brake kit is that one side aswell or is that price for both the rear? Thanks

If you are paying for them yourself, and you expect to keep the car long-term, go to KwikFit
I did this on a car many years ago, paid £145 for front brake pads and discs, rear brake shoes and drums, and they were replaced two years later for "free"
However, there was an additional charge of £18 for the rear brake fitting kit

On my Vectra B I used National Tyres once, saving me £12 over VX, and since there was little saving went back to VX
At the time KwikFit had withdrawn their "free brakes for as long as you own the car offer"

On my current Vectra C all the brake renewals are free as part of my maintenance contract with VX
Just had new front pads and the invoice was £85, with nothing to pay

Just had mine done at the dealers, Kit (discs & pads) were £65.00+vat per axle plus wear sensor at about £9.00+vat. That was for a GSI, i don't think the kits are much cheaper for other variants though. I also got dealer to fit. Total bill was £328.00 all in.

I think the kits are all the same price for all models, cheaper than buying the disks and pads seperately
Now I need a turbo to keep up!
