Default EGR valve on 2.2 dti

as above just wondering if this is a common problem on the 2.2 dti as my brothers signum has broken down and according to the AA the fault code leads to the egr valve. the car was coughing anmd spluttering and running very roughly and losing power, hes just returned from 2 weeks away touring cornwall, then the lake district and the car finally died 250 yards from his house, has anyone else had this problem

Kind of in the past. Whip it off, give it a real lashing of carb cleaner, let it dry out before refitting it. They can coke up a little bit which causes problems.

It's literally a case of whip the cover off and undo the two bolts that hold it in. Withdraw it carefully and spray at will!!

May get a few comedy pops and bangs when reassembled, if this works at all.

    Worth a try.
