    Default The vec's going

My car's 3 yrs old in September & although it's superb & I don't really want to, I'm going to swap it.

I haven't a clue what to replace it with though, & my brains hurting now through thinking about it!

The vec's been superb, & it's driving flipping better than ever.

I'm not sure whether to get another vec (2nd hand to avoid depreciation as I doubt I'll get another deal like last time), trade up to something a bit more pricey or what.

I even looked at the new Mondeo today, it looks great but I don't get on with Fords to well. Contract hire on these is ridiculously cheap.

I also looked at a Passat, but it just seems a bit drab to me.

    Suggestions anyone?

The imminent arrival of the Vec 'insert name here' D is what put me off getting a VXR.

I'm sitting and waiting to see what happens. A nice sporty (and I mean 'proper' sporty) diesel would be just the ticket

Thats one of the options I'm considering Mark.

There are loads of SRI's about.

I can afford to go for a new one but it's just chucking cash away if I do.

I paid 12.4K for the one I have (energy) brand new inc the irmy grille! which was a superb deal.

I could go for cars with a better image, I found an IS220D quite cheap on contract hire, but I'm told they don't drive as good as they look.

I'm not keen on Audi, our works A4 sport is not as good as I'd imagined.

The 3 series beemer looks rubbish unless you spend serious money.

We have at our office a 335d (f****** fast!!!), Golf, A4 & a faulty CLS & guess which car we use if we have a distance to do?

My vec!!! cos it's more comfortable to travel in than the others & won't attract attention (like the CLS does). Incredible isn't it?

just goes to show, no matter how 'flash' the others are, they just can't beat the vectra for doing what it does....

plus, for visiting customers, it's perfect....

I know what you mean Paul, Once the D comes along the c value will plummet, so youre right to wait & see.

Which is what is making me wary of buying another C, especially as I'll probably end up paying more 2nd hand than I did for mine new.

Incidentally, Glass's values mine at about £6.8K if in good nick.

Exactly Mark, it doesn't look good picking up customers from the airport in a fully kitted CLS, complete with 500 badges on (even if it's a diesel)!.

The first thought is.... mmmm, they're making too much!

tbh it's been in the dealers way too many times as well, now it has serious power loss & is going in again!

Not good for nearly £60K of car.

stick with another Vec Ian...you know it makes sense both financially ( if you buy 2nd hand) and for company 'apperances'....
