    confused windscreen wipers stopped working

hope some one can help me here.
driving along in the rain this morning with the wipers on i noticed that they were starting to slow down then speed up again, then all at once they stopped and would'nt work at all, but every now and then they try to move a little bit, also my windscreen washers have stopped working.
i have checked all the fuses and connections i can see, when the stalk is moved i can hear the contactor clicking but no movement from the wipers.
i have just dissconected the battery for a bit and will see if that does anything.
any ideas would be very much appreciated.
    thanks in advance daz.

Washers are a common problem that is usually down to a build up of gook on the motor filter. Bit of a coincidence them both stopping but the washer motor can be found behind the front, nearside wheel arche liner under the headlight. Lift the motor vertically out of its locating rubber seal & clean the filter in warm water

Had a similar problem with my wipers ! they eventually stopped in the middle of the windscreen! the car was off the road for 6 weeks while vauxhall got the part! Think it was some kind of control box.Hopefully you wont have this problem!
