Default My busy week part 1

Well I decided to finally get my car booked into a bodyshop to get rid of all the stone chips on my bonnet & front bumper, the car had also suffered damage to the drivers side wing at the hands of some careless tool who reversed into it then ******ed off! and similar damage to the rear bumper,

Basically, after washing my car then being greeted by the same old chips & scratches on the bonnet and bumper over and over again, I decided I'd had enough!

Took my car up to ACS in Newcastle to have the work done, and thought I might aswell get the side skirts and rear skirt colour coded while it's in there,

So the list of work to be carried out was...

    • Replace & paint drivers side front wing
    • Respray front bumper
    • Respray bonnet
    • Respray rear bumper
    • Colour code side skirts & standard rear bumper skirt

Gave them the key on monday morning, took some pics before it went up...

Damage to the drivers side wing and corner of bumper...

Colour mispatch and texture to passenger side of front bumper after a cheap/rattle can repair by previous owner, also scuffs & stone chips on bumper...

    General stonechipping to bonnet...

Scuff on passenger side of rear bumper...

Scuff on drivers side of rear bumper...

Scuff to number plate recess on rear bumper...

Got it back on tuesday afternoon, inspected the best I could as it had been raining & the sky was quite dark!

1st impressions were good! Bonnet, new wing and bumper looked spot on great colour match and had been blended in well, sideskirts were colour coded and IMHO transfomed the look of the car! rear bumper looked nice and smart again,

The only problem was the rear bumper skirt, the first thing that caught my eye was that there was a bubble just above the right hand side exhaust, on closer inspection the paint had reacted, all the waqy along the skirt, not to the point where it was flaking off, you could only really see it when you got up close, but that's not really the point! I pointed it out the bodyshop manager and he apologised for not noticing sooner and that he would book the car in for next week the have that part sprayed again, couldn't really ask anymore than that!

Didn't get round to taking photos til the next day as it didn't stop raining

So next morning, bright and early, no rain so I took some snaps of the finished work (sorry the cars a little dirty, again because of the rain!)

So overall I'm really pleased, just got to get that rear skirt sorted next week, you can see the bubbling on a couple of the pics

Stay tuned for the next installment

Wow they certainly did a good job!

I'd suggest in the long term you get a "Scratch Proof Film" against stone chips i'm not sure how much they cost but the go on your bumper and bonnet, i'm sure they're fitted standard on the VXR 220? The problem with todays modern paintwok it's all waterbased hence it's too prone to stone chips and surface scratching!

sets the car off, doesn't it.

once the wife is back from shopping will need to persuade her that painting the skirts will suit the car.

your pictures will help. so much better than black.........cheers...
