Traction/ESP light on in the wet

Every now and again, when I start my car, the traction/ESP warning light comes on. Sometimes it goes out after a while but more often than not remains on for the entire journey. In the majority of cases it happens after a heavy downpour. Any ideas what the problem could be?

It should come on during the POST and then go off along with all the other sensor lights
If it stays on and remains on, then either the TC button has been pressed (switching TC off) or the sensors are faulty
However, the ABS light would normally stay on as well, as they are part of the same circuit
It might have been unsettled on brake pad change, so well worth having it looked at

Thanks. Pads were changed recently so that seems a logical place to start.

Daave.... stop giving it so much teddy in the wet, it comes on to let you know your are spinning up ha ha
