Thanks mine has only just started doing this within the last month it only happens after been stood for 10 hours or more it always starts, the only way i can describe it is its like the days when you had a choke and you flooded the engine for the first few seconds, i have every intention of using the warranty i just dont want to here sorry sir thats not covered.

thats because now they don't have a choke, they have to run the injectors VERY rich to keep the engine running..it's normal for it to run rough for the first few seconds while it's still on it's cold start cycle..i'd only be concerned if it ran rough after 30 seconds

GSI 3.2 when you say its normal for it to be rough for the first few seconds the car never used to be like this, i bought the car in january and it started fine in the cold months, the engine fires straight away but theres nothing there its like its going to conk out for a few seconds during which time im trying to rev it but nothings happening then all of a sudden its ok.

define 'rough ' for me.. do you mean it's slightly 'hunting' for a while, or do you mean it's like it's running on 4 cylinders and shaking quite a lot??..

.. oh the fun of long range diagnosis....

I wouldnt say it was firing on 4 cylinders and shaking its as though the car has started and the revs are very low 250 on the verge of stalling im pressing the throttle and the car is not responding add after 3 to5 seconds it responds and the revs go up.

I have had this with mine only now and again and it does just exactly what you described, go to rev it and nothing and before now it has stalled on me. Has'nt done it in ages so iam not bothered by it.

    Thumbs up Gsi Idling Issues

    Higher,

It sounds like a fuel filter issue/fuel contamination issue , try to use the same petrol station as some outlets are better than others. I find Esso is good fuel and my car has neaver shown any of the symtoms you describe.

    Regards,

    JCB
