Default Look up to this guy

Last night while on the rank waiting for a customer noticed a young lad with only one leg,had the impression he was ex army,
Anyway He gets into my cab and we get talking, apologised and ask what he had done , he was in the army[22 years old & 3 years sevice] and was just coming back from Surrey after having his new Leg fitted [amazing that was all alloy and kevlar],it turns out that it had happened in iraq,he lost his leg up to the thigh and his two mates lost thier lives [both married with babies].The positive way he spoke was a complete uplift for me, yes at first he was totally withdrawn and sorry for himself untill he had a visit from another guy who had lost both legs and an arm and one eye,Asked why he was feeling sorry for himself when all he had was a scratch !,
earlier in the year he was sent by the Army so the States to go Ski-ing,and he was soon to leave on a sailing trip from the Uk to Barbados.Looking to the future he wants to a counseller for others in the same position
when he got out the cab I would only take half the £36. fare and shook his hand leaving me feeling totally humble.
the morons out on a Friday & saturday night need to meet him.

Agreed, Most of the people out on a Fri / Sat night only seem to be worried about getting a drink in before the bar closes, and think they are hard done by.

There are truly inspirational people out there, but mostly they are spat upon by the very people who could learn most from them.

This sort of things puts other peoples problems and woes into perspective dont they.

Makes my little operation quite insignificant dosnt it!

As has been said, its very humbling meeting people like this.

Keep it up Paul, pretty soon you will sound like me as well, that's twice this week we've had to agree on life, whatever is our worlds coming to

And on the same lines as SHR, some yrs ago I picked up 4 squaddies to go back to Thorney Island, as I have an ultimate like of service personal I make a point of chatting with them, on this journey the lad sat behind me just blurted out this ... I've been to Bosnia and I've killed ppl, this wasn't a brag or a fear tactic, he was openly in a daze and you could tell he didn't like what he'd done and it was playing his mind, although he was in one piece, he still is as damaged as the fella SHR is posting about, and the sad fact is the ppl that send them to war forget them all to quick.

The article says that it is up for review on 1 Aug. If it is turned down, I think the locals need reminding of a thing or 2. These families aren't yobs, or there to go out on the ****. They're there to support their loved ones who have been injured supporting / implementing / defending our foreign interests.

I say they are all ******s. (sounds like W anchor)

Despicable, absolutely despicable. Worried about security/being a soft target - what a load of complete and utter tosh!! How they hell would that house affect the value of their houses? (which is all they're worried about). What they mean is that the people that will be staying there generally won't be of the same social scale as the other house owners - and they couldn't possibly allow that, can't have any old riff-raff staying in our little lane.
