Default OMG Look what I just found!

I was just fitting a new battery clamp in my Siggy - no idea where the old one went - and saw this

ALl three of the bolts on the strut turret are loose, I mean not even hand tight
Well on the up side I guess I have found that annowing knocking noise!!

What would have happened if these bolts fell out? It seems odd to me that all three were all loose, I may have expected one but not all three. Wht would these have been taken out before? Would they have needed to have been removed for the spring mod?
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

Yup, the would have had to come out m8, looks like our friendly competant "technicians" are at it again They probably put them in hand tight meaning to tighten them after refitting the lower arm but went for a brew and "forgot"

get them tightened quickly, think everyone shud check their struts on the
top as if anyone else has the same knocking noise then thats possibly the
    problem.

I couldn't believe it, its the first time i've opened the bonnet in months. I only looked today as its MOT time tomorrow and I had to fit the missing clamp. Its going in to the same garage that did the mod for me. So i'll have a kind word with the service manager. Thinking back it was January when that was done!!

They probably didn't put any thread lock on the bolts or torqued them down correctly m8.

There was no threadlock on them. I don't have any torx sockets either so they have been done up as tight as I can get them with a 10mm socket. I'll get them to torque them up tomorrow. You can't trust them to do anything can you.....

They wouldn't have really done much if they all fell out. The weight of the car would have held the suspension strut assembly in relative placement. Yes, there would have been a bit of knocking and noise, but the suspension would still have worked fine. They only hold the top mount in the body turret and the spring and damper is held together separately.

    Still, not good though.

so as long as you don't go over any ramps or big jumps, your suspension will/should stay in place
