whats the best wax to use on my black estate without leaving swirl marks?

I use one of many, either Colinite 915 or 476s, they are very durable, or Victoria Concours wax, that gives a good shine and is durable too or even Cemical Guys 50/50 that is very easy to put on and take off and lasts along time too [ but I would not say it lasts as long as the Colinite or Victoria wax] then there is PS21S wax that shines very well is easy to put on and take off, but it lasts the least out of the bunch I have mentioned, all of these wax,s are Canuba wax, whilst there are many out there the ones I have mentioned cost no more than £30.
The swirl marks are not caused by the wax, it is more down to the way the car is washed, the wax will not scratch the paint. you might need to use a good polish to remove the swirl marks first before you put the wax on. then I would put a sealent on top of the wax, thought it is not all that neccasary but it is the iceing on the cake I think.

Rob, scratch X will remove some scratchs, but is not a wax,

Hi, Meguiars Scratch -X or there Qick Clay will get rid of the swirls for you, there products leave stunning results.

meguiars quick clay will not remove swirl marks, it's not what the product is designed for. if anything, when you have clayed a car, paint imperfections such as swirl marks show up alot more, as any product which may have preciously been applied to the car to 'mask' the swirls will have been removed.

there are plenty of polishes out there that will remove/reduce swirls, but doing this by hand is a very long and hard process. you really need to buy/borrow a machine to do the job properly and alot more easily.

best thing to do if you can't borrow a machine polisher is to use a product that will fill/mask the swirls in order to make them less visible. autoglym super resin polish is a tried and tested product for this and gives good results.

as Ed said, the wax will not cause swirl marks either, it has no abrasives in it that will inflict any swirls. however, the way in which you apply and remove the wax will have huge consequences on the amount of swirls you put into the paint. get yourself some meguiars sponge applicators (to apply) and some high quality microfibre cloths (to remove), this wil give reduce any chance of swirls being introduced into the paintwork. also, as Ed said, washing and drying is where the majority of swirls happen
