Thumbs down Drop links - cream crackered at 19 k miles !

I have a Nov 2005 Signum. In January 2007 we started to hear odd noises from the front suspension (14,000 miles). Recently (19,000 miles, July 2007) we can get miles of quiet suspension, then can get a pretty loud clonk from the front suspension, particularly if we hit a speed bump off centre or at an angle.

Just been into the Dealer, and both drop links are going to have to be replaced. Don't go much on the quality of these parts if they only last 18 months .....

it's un usual for them to go that quickly, but yes, they do wear..more so if you do a lot of urban driving...both our V6's have got over 40K on now and are on their 1st set still, but some members cars are on their 2nd set at 30K..it's all to do with the roadsurface it gets used on..

Mine was on it's 2nd set at 6,000

Mentioned to the garage that there was a sound now and again when going over speed bumps and before I knew it they'd booked it in for them to be changed

It really does depend on the way the car is used, ie, as Mark said, the road surface, your driving manner etc. These links take a lot of hammer as it is though. Just think yourself lucky you don't own a Peugeot (stock pile required lol)

Default Actually a pretty moderate driving style

Well - Hertfordshire roads these days resemble something out of the third world. But we drive pretty carefully, and 70 % of the miles on the Signum are M1/M25/M4 Motorway. So I think my particular set of drop links are pretty c***. And the dealer does not even have them in stock ....

But at least you can do these yourself, so it's not a costly repair and it will sharpen your steering and make it more fun to drive.

im still on the original pair, 60,000 miles.
goin to change them in the next couple of weeks i think.

anyone bought the ones off ebay? £40 odd for the pair.
easy to change over.

there are quite a few parts that seem to wear quite fast on the vec.
