Default Touch up Aerosol Spray application

    Hi.

I was unhappy with the local chipsaway guy's try to repaint a good silled dent in my rear wheel arch ...

There was excessive overspray and some general clumsliness.

Can't be bothered getting the guy back for a seconf attempt.

I've managed to remove all the overspray and most of the paint he applied (vigorous polishing with Autoglym).

Got a tin of genuine spray paint n order from the dealer for me to have a go myself.

Any hints and tips at how I can do this ....

Obviously I will be masking and protecting from overspray.

Only a small area to spray .... which is why i fancy having a go myself

    Thanks

Read the instructions on the tin, and have a practice first on some other than your car held in the same orientation..

I used to do coach painting for the 1st eleven mths I was working after I left school.

I'm not sure how well you will get on with a rattle can, but have you considered a modeling mini spray gun, like a pencil with a small paint bowl attached to it and fired by compressed air from a can.

    Anyway

    A few tips

When painting, always move in straight horizontal lines and overlap, and try to keep the distance and the time to sweep consistent, you might also want to boil the kettle and drop the can in the hot water for a few minutes, then shake like mad, do a tester 1st before you hit the car with this method, the whole idea is to thin the paint, so you need to get a comfy technique going so you don't end up with lots of runs. hth.
