Tick Tick Tick BOOOOM

Afternoon,

Recently got myself an 05 plate 1.9 CDTi (150). I've notice a strange problem that shows at 2 different times.

I have a loud ticking noise that comes from behind the passanger glovebox. About 20 fast ticks. Taps ur finger nails quickly on a desk/table, thats the sound!

1 - This sound happens when I unlock and am getting into the car, I think it starts as soon as I hit the unlock button on the key.
2 - It also happens, exactly the same sound, whenever I turn the climate control UP. Doesnt happen when turning down. It doesn't happen if I have the front screen demist switched on either.

AND - me and the missus were lying in bed the other night with the window open and heard the car ticking away, it did it 3 times at dead on 2 minute intervals! I timed it on my phone. It had been hours since I'd been anywhere near it.

I have had it into the VX garage for investigation and they say they have identified a sticking valve in the climate control, thats due to be sorted under warranty in the next few days. But I'm concerned that theres more than one fault with it doing it when I unlock and in the middle of the night.

Any experience of or comments on this guys?

Yep, that's the problem - some threads on it somewhere. Let me see if I can find at least one.....

Problem was a faulty servo motor.

Excellent, thanks. Those descriptions fit just right, its also the same servo part they suggested would be replaced tomorrow.

Right, once its all sorted its time to investigate re-mapping......
