Default Question for people who've done the VXR Track Day

Thought it easier to start a new thread rather than get lost amongst the other threads.

It says you're allowed to bring spectators, they just need to know numbers and names - so I sent off an e-mail to which they haven't replied! lol No surprise as they never replied to my e-mails enquiring about my Event Pack.

Anyway, I know that it says that spectators aren't catered for as such i.e. they won't have the lunch etc. and be able to drive a car obviously! and there is no specific facilities for them.

Question I have is - did anyone take spectators along with them and were they able to use the facilities at the track? i.e. could they go inside anywhere and buy a bite to eat and sit down etc. rather than have to sit outside in a grandstand or whatever all the time. Mrs Duncan and her Mum (who's visiting) were thinking of coming aong but if they have to hang around for five hours outside and can't do anything then they're having second thoughts.

Obviously the facilities available at each track will vary, but I'm just trying to get an idea of what other spectators had available to them.

    Hello Duncan,

I attended the track day last week at Oulton Park, and to be honest, I didn't see many people not driving! There was a couple of people who didnt have driving licences - so they got driven around by the instructors.

I do remember seeing a 1 couple there, and his wife/gf seemed to be stood round taking photo's when he drove off/drove back into the pits.

I'm not sure if any 'speccies' are entitled to the breakfast or the buffet lunch

There is a supply of drinks in the pits too. (cans of pop, tea & coffee).

    Have a good time!

    Hope this helps.

Yep, that was partly what Jane would be doing - but I guess there's only so many pics she could take before she had basically covered everything - and it was the hanging around for 5 hours, potentially all at the trackside, being bored out of her skull that didn't appeal! lol

No, they aren't - which I was aware of and why I was asking if they had access to the track facilities to buy a bite to eat etc. At least if they were able to go inside for a bit and sit down, as opposed to having to be stood out by the track all the time, they'd be more likely to come.

When the groups get split into 2, half goes on the track with the VXR's, and the other half does the slamon (sp) type part of the course in the 1.6 Astra SH (here there is a lot of waiting round so she would be able to stand with you there).

When you get onto the track - maybe she could sit in the back of the car, while your experiencing the VXR's - don't see why not. When I went out with the professional drivers, they had 3/4 people in the car at a time! I personally, would get bored standing round, 'cos all I did was get out of one car - jump into another, then do the 2 laps, then onto the next car!

If Jane is quite into her cars I suppose it would help! My GF hates them!

That sounds cool as Diana is coming along with me, so if she can get in the car as a back seat passenger that would be brilliant..... ...... and shes got her crash helmet - lol

Brilliant question to ask Duncan, I never thought....

But were any of those spectators? I can't see them allowing a non-paying spectator to jump in as a passenger with the instructor? - or did they?

She's not into her cars - that's part of the problem. Watching cars being driven around is not her idea of fun! Would be nice to have her there, but as her Mum will be there as well I don't want them to end up bored out of their skulls and not be able to go inside anywhere, buy a bite to eat etc.

Suppose they could always head off out of the track and go shopping or something! lol Problem with that is she doen't like driving my car!!! I can't win!!! LOL - and I'm not driving her Corsa to Brands Hatch just so that she can then go off in her car! lol

When i went to the one at Donnington there were about 5 people who where just watching. They where stood in the pits when on the track and stood with everybody else when you switched.

If i had known this i would have bought my Dad along as he wanted to come along.

Nah... They'll be alright if you ask nicely....

I've brought my family with me, all 127 for spectator rides...

I'll get on eBay now and get some tickets sold...

I couldn't find an email addy or phone number in the pack, just took my girlfriend with me. It's fine for her to watch, i stole her a bacon roll for breakfast, the lunch was a free for all so she got another feed and provided they sign the insurance waiver they can have a ride in the event car. If paticularly cheeky you could probably get them a goody bag as well.
