Default I hate Chuffin Lorries....(the vehicles not the drivers)

i've spent alot of time looking after the body work and was proudly saying to andy vec recently that my car was still swirl free after 18 months.

I polished out ALL scratches and marks using Megs scratch-x

I still have stone chips to contend with all over the car including the C pillar at teh rear end

Theres the marks (a few of) caused by the box I hit on Monday on the Motorway

But in recent weeks I have passed a few dump trucks or cement trucks that have dumped debris all of the car. I now has a large scuff on the bumper thanks to a dump truck:

A cement truck put a 2 cm gash in the wing.

Yesterday en route to Demon Tweaks in Wrexham, a dump truck put a 2-3 inch gash in the driver's Door.

How the H. am I gonna get these out? They're too deep to polish

I went to a chip repairer (not Chips away) yesterday and they said its a respray job. They also said I can touch them up but they will still show. I want a second opinion

It doesnt help now, but for future take the registration number's of the vehicles, and company name and phone them and complian. Dump Trucks and Tippers by law have to have load securing net's/Sheet's over there load's. If they dont have then phone the company up and ask them what they are gonna do, if they refuse, phone the Police. i know its dramatic but these sorts of people cause thousands of pounds worth of damage a year and get away with it.

In most instances its the drivers who cant be bothered to use them, as the 2 minutes they save is soooooo precious!!

As for the paint work, i do feel for you mate, Is it worth claiming on your insurance??

Certainly with the cement truck, I saw the rock fall from the lorry's wheel arch Yesterday the truck was going the other way so I didn't see that one.

mine got scratched a while back and i did the grave mistake of attempting to repair it myself. i now wished i had left it alone - i 've now got a great big square on one of the door where i've used masking tape. took it to the paint shop and they said they have to do the whole door + the surounding areas...not worth it.

my advice to anyone who has a chip or scratch is to leave alone and DO NOT at any point try a DIY job. You can take it to the pros but even they cannot guarantee the new paint will blend with the old.

They look small enough to use touch up paint. Buy the one from Vx with the primer, emery paper and paint. lightly sand down the edges of the scratch to get rid of any ninbs, then slowly buld up with the primer, then with the paint. get it so the paint sits just above the old paint and polish out with T-Cut or similar. My friends missus is a nail technician and did a nasty scratch that went down the whole of her car using a touch up kit. In all honesty you cannot tell now, just patience and time to get right.

if you are going to use the touch up paint whatever you do dont sand the edges (especially if you have metallic paint) - just fill in the scrath with the paint (use primer if metal is showing) then polish it off.

Bl***y hell mate might as well get it resprayed properly for that price!!! It would be a better standard.
Thats what I'm doing when I get the cash. Chips away were good but it'll never be as good a repair as a proper re-spry I notice my repair now everytime I wash and wax. £700 its gonna cost me for the front end total, thats both wings and bumper and bonnet.
