As the title indicates. I'm in desperate need of a new keyboard and inverter for my sony K series laptop.I had a minor incident involving sweet and sour chickenfalling from the arm of my chair straight onto the laptop that was sitting comfortably on the floor

Ebay is your best bet m8.

I have managed to find two laptop keyboards for reasonably obscure models over the past few weeks for customers.

Buy online from a bespoke laptop repair outfit and you will probably pay over the odds for the parts compared to good auld fleabay.

What are the model details exactly?. I'll keep an eye out for you.

Didn't think of ebay!! the laptop is a sony vaio PGC-K115B. the part number for the keyboard is KFRMBA152A. Not sure on the code for the inverter but am i right in assuming that the inverter is the part that controls the backlight on the screen as the screen is flickering on and off.

Try this lot, message them and tell them what you are looking for.

If they dont have it, they seem to be able to get it quite quickly:-

Thats where I have bought my last two replacement keyboards for lappys.

Can you not just clean it inside and out or have you actually damaged it?

I have cleaned it inside and out. took all the keys off the thing is spotless but for some reason i can't use E,R,A,S,O,P,3 or 4. Which makes it difficult to type many words out. all i can assume is that it's got right inside as below the keys it's impossible to take apart. No point claiming on the house inurance as it's only a replacement keyboard and it's not worth wasting no claims bonus's.

Anything sticky is death to a laptop (or anything with moving parts) and sweet and sour sauce is very sticky. You can sometimes get away with water, as long as you switch it off and dry it out thoroughly. I once managed to spill a glass of water into my Dell laptop during a training course, then shut it down, pulled the battery and conducted a masterclass on laptop dismantling instead of the boring software package I was meant to be teaching.
I got a standing ovation when it worked!
