Default How fast do these cars eat rear brake pads!

I fitted brand new Discs and Pads to my car in September 2006 (well Drinky did most of the work) and this morning I heard that metal to metal sound that we all dread.

On looking at the pads the inside pads are completely worn. The outside pads have about 4mm on them. The front pads all have loads on.

My car seems to really eat rear pads, is this right? I reckon I've got just about 19k miles from these rears.

My Omega used to take the rears out quite rapid as well.

Rear pads should last longer than the front as they aint used as much.
So it sounds like bad adjustment ...

Yep, 19K doesn't sound right for a set of rears.

In my experience the rears have always needed replacing before the fronts.

In my last car - VX astra, the fronts lasted 45k and the rears 61k. I have never had to replace the rears before the fronts. Does your missus drive with the handbrake on????
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

Front discs & pads have a harder life than the rear .... so i should be the other way around. ( If you compare front and back wheels, the front will be more dirty due to the this )

Jees, you must drive extraordinarily carefully! Dont think i've ever had front pads last longer than 20k / 25k.

I'm sure I'm right in saying that there's a few members on here who have had the same problem with the rears shot whilst the fronts are OK.

I would change the fronts as well, but there really is quite a lot of pad left on them. Do I have a problem with front/rear brake bias?

All my pads lasted until 43k miles, now at 59k miles the rears are making that slight dragging sound every now and then but the fronts are very thick.

It's still on the original disks though which still look fine, but i'm expecting to change them and the pads at the next service in a few weeks.
