    Default Bike rack

I'm in need of opinions for a bike carrier.

My old astra had a roof mounted rack that did the job, but it was a right pain to get the bikes on and off each time.

So I'm thinking about 2 options and wonder if anyone has them what they think about them

    Option 1
Roof rack and gas assisted lifting (basically the bikes are mounted on the side of the car then lifted ont the roof rack and secured

    Option 2
Get a tow bar fitted and a tow bar mounted rack

I'm thinking option 2 will be slightly more due to the tow bar but at last I have the option of towing things not that I plan on buying a caravan anytime soon.

I have the Vauxhall roof bars and Vauxhall bike carrier. Actually I have three bike carriers mounted on the bars.

Dead easy to use, not a bad price nd out of the way, safely on the roof. I can post a pic if you wish?

I have a tow ball mounted carrier, and it's ace. It actually clamps to the ball and can be fitted in less than 30 seconds. It also folds up really neatly for storage.

you need a set of snowflakes on the caravan!!

    Back to topic,
I use the Thule roof bar and bike rack, got them from halfords a few years ago, no problems, and there lockable.

I don't fancy lifting the bikes onto the roof by hand - especially as my other half is 5'3" and will want to go out on her own at times. I can just see the peddal meeting the side of the car on the way up after a long bikeride.

I second the colour looking good (as I have exactly the same!) but reminds me I need to actually clean it so it looks like that again :-)

It's not so bad as I am 6ft, but I think the idea of the gas strut assisted system is very good.
