    Default Tyre Problems :(((((

On Friday it was time for some new boots on the love machine. Now factory fitted are Continental Sport Contact 2's, size 235/35/19's, standard size for the 19's.

Now i've been dreading this day as i've always had bad luck with balancing and never being satisfied. I'd previously had a puncture in the front at only 7000 miles which needed replacement, and this was done with an Contact 3 (Contact 2's replacement) at Elite Tyres in Rainham essex. TBH they did a spot on job and I never noticed a difference.

Now they've both been replaced for new Contact 3's on the front and big problems. First the steering wheel was wobbling, so they re-balanced them, now their okkkkkish but the car feels like it's on ice. The steering is so light just feels like their slipping all the time, really horrible feeling.

So tonight I swapped them with the backs which have about 4mm left on them and alls good, steering weight is back to normal and feels like it used to.

Any idea on what could be the problem?, they weren't exactly cheap, £165 each, however it's a company car and in my old mans words (owner of said company), it's a company car and tyres dont get skimped on

Now i'm dreading when the fronts need replacing, i'll have to take it back to Rainham, make a special trip, maybe even try and source some contact 2's.

conti sport 2s are still readily available.. and well known for their highly accurate construction, and true blancing ..

surely the manufacturing process of the cs3 will be as good ..

Well I have no doubts about either tyre but there has to be a reason for the problems with my pair. Maybe they needed a couple thou mile to bed in properly, I dunno. I'll try and swap them back in a month or so.
