can I get away with a 40/30 drop on 19's ?

As above I have my 19" snowflakes and I'm wanting to lower it using a Bilstein B12 kit which includes lowering springs that take it down 40mm at the front and 30mm at the rear, the car is a 3.2V6 Elite, I'm currently judging by the huge space between the tyre and arch at present, so going from that it should be fine, I just wanted to be 100%

I have seen a 45mm front and 40mm rear and it looks fine but 40mm front and 30mm rear may make it look like it's nose diving(possibly).

I was going tr try this exact thing, as i'm not too happy with how the front of my car sits at present after being lowered.

I was speaking to Mark(GSI 3.2) last night, and he advised against it, cant remember the reason now, but am sure it was along the lines of what Pimm says, about it being out of proportion at the front. I suppose the ontl way too see is to actually try it.

Am i right in thinking that Spoons's VXRD is lower at the front than at the rear??

Yes, i beleive it is a 5mm difference and not 10mm. same for Payney.

yep, the tail will sit high unless you are lucky..best to go for a level drop if you can..Eibach springs give you a level drop, see LMF's website for details

It's LMF where I'm getting these from and Steve is raving about them saying that they are top of the range from Bilstein,

I always remember the Eibach coilovers I had on my Astra G when fully wound down made the car lower at the front than at the rear, when I look at the Vectra from a short distance there is a much bigger gap at the front than at the rear with the standard springs and shocks,

how it looks is not my concern though, how it handles and if it will rub/catch at all is, as I said the Astra was lower at the front and handled superbly, I imagine if Bilstein are making the kits like this there must be a purpose.....

it'll handle like a train on rails....and the wheels won't catch if you're on VX offset rims.... so enjoy..

Cheers once again mate, I can't imagine 10mm making too much of a visible difference on a car that size anyway, + as I already said the wheel-arch gap is bigger at the front than at the rear = more space to drop

thanks for the link. unsure why you won't consider buying through my business. guess it's a vauxhall thing? anyway seeing as you had various questions let me answer them:

will it work with 19s - wheel diameter is irrelevant - you must keep within 3% oe rolling radius
why 40/30 - rake is vital - all cars rake down at the front - arch gap is meaningless - look at actual ride height - most cars have rear arch lower than front by many mm but actual rake is much lower. more rake will descrease drag, increase front end grip, reduce understeer. all good on FWD car
