    Default Brake Pads

Sorry to post such a simple question, but here goes:

How long would it take a competent mechanic to change both front and rear pads?

I've been quoted £190 for that, or £250 for front discs and front and rear pads. Now the pads seem to be about £60 for both front and rear, so that leaves £130 to fit?

How does this seem to you?

    Someone's legging you up mate!!

I did my Front disc's and pad's, and Rear pad's, and it took me no more than an hour!

Thats a hell of an hourly rate they're on!

Was it a main dealer that quoted you, or a smaller garage??

Its a local garage - the labour rate is £50/hr

They look after all our company vehicles, but the price did seem somewhat high.

Anyone recommend a good local garage in Coventry?

all discs and pads...around 45 mins in a pro garage..it's dead easy...they would be paying no more than £60 for pads and discs for the front and £16 for the rear pads..work the rest out for yourself.....

That sounds about right for main dealer prices...
Front brake pads £40 plus £40 each disc, so lets say £120
    One hours labour
    Rear brake pads £40
    One hours labour

Total about £160 in parts, and two hour labour
Gives a total of about £260

As an "all in one" job, it might be cheaper to get rear discs at the same time, that way the kits are fitted, and the total labour will probably be about an hour and a half

I can see me and this garage having a falling-out on Monday - dependent on whether they take the hint re the 20-or so strong fleet that we have maintained by them....

I know I paid £125 for pads done when I had the Terracan, but then parts for that were much rarer/dearer.....

Thanks for all the responses chaps!
