    Default Airbag light on

Hi guys i was doing the usual friday valet on the Vec today and when i got back in to park it up, the red airbag light reared its ugly head.

Do i have to get it on Tech 2 to get it turned off? i can only guess i've knocked the plug under one of the seats for the seatbelt pre-tensioners while i've been cleaning?!?!?!

    Help appreciated, thanking you

Your probablt right about the plugs under the seats for the pre tensioners - when i worked at an auto electrrical place we used to get hundreds that were that especially pugs & citroens.

If your sure the plugs are clean / dry and making a good connection then it must need reseting with a tool (i cant remeber for sure as i left over 2 years ago). I would look at local garages rather than the main agent though as loads of people have the equipment to do it cheaper.

my wife's car has this same problem she has an astra 55 plate when she took it back to our local vauxhall dealer they took ages to find the problem and to be honest I don't think they ever did as only a couple of days ago it happend again
and it stayed on for at least an hour so Ill be taking it back to the dealer again and this time hope they can find the problem.

I know the master tech down at my local dealer but rather than bunging him a drink for a diagnosis i'd rather fiddle with the plug and see if disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes will do it.

    Reckon this will work?

it'll prob be a dodgy wire connection...like a broken wire in the loom.. did you move the seat right back??....it should reset when the curcuit makes contact again and the battery is disconnected to reset the ecu..

i always move the seat all the way back for cleaning the front footwell you understand

Then i move it all the way forward to clean the rear footwell, this happens every week but nothing until now. I'm going to check the connection plugs today and then disconnect the battery for thirty minutes, fingers crossed

Triple post whammy, for those who may or may not be interested(!)

Just had the car checked on Tech 2, turns out that there was a high resistance in drivers seat side airbag and seat belt pre-tensioner pointing to a connection problem with the plug under the seat.

Don't think i'll be moving the seats too much when cleaning the car.
