Default Is there a HOW 2

For fitting the looms and regs to the rear windows to make them electric, or does anyone have one that is pending to be posted.

Have taken the plunge and got some bits (hopefully the right ones) and am going to give it a go.

Trouble is once I get the door card off I am not sure if it will be obvious where everything goes.

If it fails miserably I will have a lot of stuff up for sale !!!!!!

    Cheers

I was going to do this mod until I realised my '06 facelift had a load of pins missing on the body loom and I would have been wasting my time.

    The basics are to:

Remove the door cards (3 screws along the bottom and 2 behind door handle; pop out the plastic clips that hold it at the bottom; push the top of the card up and away from the top edge of the door; disconnect door opener cable)
Remove vapour barrier; speaker & cable
Remove all connections on old loom and connect new loom in it's place. Test loom on new regs before fitting

...and that's as far as I got. Sorry!!

Not sure what others have used for vapour barrier (I tore mine to shreds taking it off). Went to B & Q and got 3mx3m (or maybe 4mx4m) polythene sheet and cut some to fit with B&Q double sided tape. Used the rest of the sheet on other stuff.

IIRC fitting the new regs appears as straightforward as lining it up where the old one was and riveting in place. Make sure you connect the glass up as well!!

There are others on here who have actually done it. They might be more help. It didn't seem too difficult to me, like I say I was at the stage where I was fitting the new loom when I realised it was a waste of time.

    Oh, and good luck!!

How do you test the regs, I thought it had to be Tech 2'ed first to allow them to work.

Also how do I go about rivetting them on

    Cheers

I'm pretty sure there is a how to, in the how to section, surprisingly. Maybe not though.

I thought the regs would work without Tech2, but you can't control them independently? I'm sure someone did the mod and said when they operate the fronts the rears go down as well??

You need a pop riveter I believe. Well, that's what I bought. Not sure what size rivets though, I think somewhere between 4-5mm.

ive done this mod on my old omega.id start with the rear window loom, switch and mechanism.unplug your original loom from the car and connect your rear window loom.connect the switch and turn on ignition.if you press the switch the mechanism should start to move.if this happens then you can start hacking out all door insides.this way worked on my omega but unsure on a new vectra but at least testing first is better than stripping your door only to put it all back in if it doesnt.
