    Default ECU Reset

When I had a Lexus GS300 i could remove a fuse for about 60 seconds to reset the ECU (so the car can relearn new conditions with an air filter added also learn how I drive again)

Can I remove the fuse. if so which????

If not how long do need to remove the terminal of the battery to reset the ECU if there is no fuse.

Just disconnect the -ve terminal for 10-15 mins, that'll do the trick.

There is an ECU fuse in the fuse box under the bonnet. I did this with my car a month back to save hassle of windows reset etc but TBH mines has full canbus and only windows reset is required after a battery disconnect so less hassle doin the battery. If you have to pull the fuse, its a bit of a james hunt to get out using the supplied tool. I ended up compressing the tool onto the fuse using pliers to get it out. Sorry am at work just now so cant remember the fuse number. Its in the handbook, if you have one.

Given that, a disconnection of the -ve terminal definitely sounds much less hassle!! The windows reset and typing in the radio code again are a doddle.

what is the windows reset? and why do you have to reset them after taking the battery off?

The auto feature stops working i.e. when you push and hold the button for a second and the windows keep going up/down after you've let the button go. All you need to do is wind the window down, wind it back up but keep your finger held on the button as it goes up. Keep it held for a couple of seconds once it has closed until you hear a faint click, that's it reset. You need to do the same for each electric window including rears if you have them.
