    Default 3.0 CDTi Re-Mapping - Be Aware!!!

Having been looking into re-mapping the 3.0 CDTi, there only a handfull of companies who do it.

    Regal (EDS)
    Torquing BHP
    Chipped UP
    Superchips
    VXR PC (EDS)

However, it has become apparent that mapping the 3.0 CDTi has all but stopped in Europe due to engine failures as the 3.0 is apparently not up to the job.

I had by doubts over the story, so dug a little deeper, Courtenay have decided not to proceed with development of this map based on feedback from their software engineer who used to work with EDS.

I also found out that Arnu ho runs/owns EDS, EDS being one of the best known names in Vauxhall/Opel software upgrades has decided to pull the plug completly on 3.0 re-maps. This did come as a shock to be honest.

OK, in Germany they have the Autobahns which can stress out an engine more than we can over here.

In standard form the 3.0 has a reputation for being bullet proof, and as such I have also heard Vauxhall will keep an eye open for any engine related warranty claims and will dig as to whether the engines have been mapped.

So I guess mine will be staying standard as I am not prepared to take the risk.

The 1.9 16v in contrast is fast getting a reputation in Europe as being virtually in destructable!!!!!!

Certainly isn't been reflected over here - or at least from members on here.

Number of members who've had engine related issues with the 3.0 - handful.
Number of members who've had engine related issues with the 1.9 - where do you start! lol

Nice find! Any idea what problems it gives to these engines?
TBH Mine will stay standard as its out of warrenty soon and I can't be bothered with the repair issues.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

That has come as a shock with regards the 3.0's.

The 1.9 engine is indeed up to the job when mapped, but it's a shame that the fuelling system isn't.

Interesting point there Duncan, and quite right too, but I think what the europeans are saying is the actual 1.9 engine is very good.

It came as a surprise to me as I had a chat with the Vauxhall engineer who looks after my dealer and he advised me to buy a 3.0 as they don't get the problems.

But as said, we can't do the long term speeds over here that they can in Germany, the Z20LET and C20LET in the UK very rarely get bad press through failure, but I do know of many cases in Germany of piston failure on tuned engines.

mmmm, never had a problem myself, but agree, there are many bad cases of fuel system problems.

Not sure what the problems are at the moment but working on trying to find out.

But if Arnu from EDS has taken the decision to bow out of 3.0 CDTi mapping, there must be some serious issues with tuning too far.

I think Spoons also found out some information on a similar theme from the talks he has had with our Belgium friends.

Yep, I've also heard that tuning companies in europe have pulled the plug on 3.0 CDTi engine remaps..... due to reliability issues.....
