    Default Upgrading under warranty

My CD30 has gone nuts, switching it's self on and clicking and whirring, not ejecting the cd etc etc.
Have been advised a new headunit needs to be fitted. I know warranty is normally like for like but does anyone know if i pay a little extra could i have a CD30 MP3 fitted instead?
    Here's hoping.

Warranty will only replace like for like. Vauxhall will not authorize upgrades due to potential compatibility issues they may occur.

I would certainly try it; over here the CD30 is no longer... the CD30MP3 became standard... there is even an optional aux-in available

I upgraded on my old vec B from a casette to a CD when it broke, done it under warranty, just paid the difference...my dealer is quite helpful though, but you can always ask!

Update: Just had a call from Vauxhall customer services. They said that Vauxhall will only cover the price of a replacement CD30 and that I have to speak to my dealer to find out the price difference and whether they are happy to do it.
Looks like it depends on the dealer.

Looks like it depends on the dealer.
That sounds very positive. The higher spec unit should be no more work for the dealer to install than the standard.

It is a case of sliding it in and setting up with tech 2.
