After the problems I've been having with my DPF and tuning box, I'll have a very hard look at this!

    How about the Phase 2.......

Phase 2 - Incorporates the same great EDS software upgrade but with a Regal Intercooler kit and larger turbo for a massive 240 bhp and 385 ft/lb of torque.

For additional safety the Phase 2 software has a 'torque ramp' feature that only allows the full 385 ft/lb of torque to be available higher up in the rev ranges to limit unnecessary stress on your drivetrain, allowing you to make swift starts without worry!
    Oooohhhhh Yeah!!!!!!!!

For anyone that's interested, here's a copy of an email I sent to Regal last night, and their reply this morning....

    From: Paul [mailto:---]
    Sent: 10 July 2007 05:24
    To: Chris Stewart
    Subject: Remap

    Hi,

I've just been looking around your website, saw the article about the new phase 1 map for the Vauxhall 1.9 CDTi (150) engine, with a power increase to 210bhp, and I have a few questions as I'm very interested in it....

    1. Without giving anything away, obviously, can you explain more about the extra DPF (soot filter) purging? The reason I ask is that i'm currently using a good quality tuning box which is causing a lot of problems with my DPF and making the engine run quite hot.

    2. I understand that the map is hard written to the ECU, but what would happen if, for example, I took it back to the dealers and they had to flash a software update? Would that affect the remap in any way?

    3. I'm planning on having a performance exhaust fitted at some point in the fairly near future - would there be any benefit in waiting for the remap until after that, or would it make no difference?

    4. I've got a 2006 Vectra with the above engine - what would it cost for the remap, and does the service include before & after runs on the dyno to confirm figures?

    Thanks in advance

    Paul

    Hello,

The particulate filter cleaning cycle with the software in place is performed once every 1500KM for 30 seconds at any rpm (so the cycle will be carried out even during urban driving) as opposed to every 5000KM for two minutes as long as the car is above a certain RPM (cycle will be carried out on motorway driving only) on the standard car. This is introduced to bring better safety to the car, rather than cleaning the filter when it starts to get blocked this will prevent the filter getting to this stage in the first place.

The software is written to the standard ECU, no physical entry is made, all information is uploaded via the diagnostic ports. Before the software is installed on the car we update the Vauxhall software on the ECU with the most up-to-date available. This normally means that the dealer will not have to perform any further upgrades. If they reset the ECU to clear codes this is not a problem, but if they update the ECU then this will overwrite our software. If this is the case you can bring the car back to us and we can re-install the software, but this has occurred very few times across all the makes and models that we have installed software on.

The Exhaust fitting (if it is a cat-back) will not affect the software, so whether you have the software upgraded before or after it will make no difference.

The software that we offer for this car will bring power up to 200bhp and costs £480 for the Vectra 1.9CDti. We do not include a dyno run in that price but if you want before and after runs we can do this for you for an extra £65.

    Hope this helps

    Regards

    Paul.

good response, but I would expect before and after power runs to be done to be sure its performing as they claim. What else do they do to achieve 210bhp as most maps kick out 185ish?

Fair point, and that's why I asked, particularly about doing a dyno before to get a baseline figure - otherwise Nutron would just jump straight in and say their RR is out! However, if you re-read their reply, he says they could remap mine to 200bhp. 888 remaps give around 190/195 and Celtic claim 205bhp, so its maybe not so far fetched.

Been looking round at Re-map's today for my 2.2 DTi, and been looking at 1.9's too, and there is quite a big variation of what people claim to be able to push power up to.

I suspect all re-maps are somewhere close, and its just some people being a lot more conservative, so not to set themselves up for a fall if they only get 31bhp gain rather than that advertized 45bhp.

Well mines an 04, so I believe has the same ECU, I’m sure they didn't change it again. (it changed, I think, when the Vectra changed from the B to the C ) I think this relates to the fuel pump as well, and I certainly have the later twin plug type pump.
They can still do it, it's all done via tech2, and it makes a hell of a difference.
