    Default 3RD Service/Coolant Change & 1ST MOT ( Price Check!! )

Hi Guys, Just booked my car in at Vx's Stealers for it's 3rd service, Coolant change & it's 1ST MOT ( going to be 3 years old 1/9/07 ) Was qouted £297.93 with 10% off about £268.00, is this price about right??

Also asked about Cambelt change and they said it wasn't due until 100,000miles or 10 years. Is this right seems a bit long???

    Car is Signum 1.9 CDTI ( 150 ) 2004.

PS. If brake pads need changing should I get them done or do them myself??? ( How hard is it?? )

    Cheers Guys
    Mark

I think you'll find the cambelt is 40000 miles or 4 years? not sure on the time..... another well informed VX dealer! They changed the schedule from 80000 a little while ago for all 16V engines.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

Yep...there's a big notice on my local stealer's service desk saying Vx advise every 40,000 now.

And if you're stumping up that much for an oil & filter change, you may as well get them to do the brakes while its in.

But surely VX Stealer's all use the same main computer that tells them when the cambelt needs doing?? Why would they say 100,000 when it's 40,000??, it's in there interest by getting more cash out of us to say 40,000 all the time!!! Don't get it!!

Vx told me categorically that the Cambelt for a 1.9CDTi (150bhp) was 100,000 miles or 10 years ...

Even if they say 100'000 miles I would still change at 40'000.
A new cambelt costs a couple hundred quid, a new cylinder head & valves etc etc costs a little more.
100'000 is far to long to be running the same belt.
It's only made of reinforced rubber, and you can guarantee that Vx wont be paying the bill if it goes pop!!
