I have been reading http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/filters_test/2/ and wondered if anyone out there has had any negative effects of using a K&N Panel filter. According to this website they let through a lot of dirt.
Dirt into engine = Bad???

I hope that I dont get any problems, I've just fitted a K&N panel filter to my 2.2sri and done the airbox mod.
I'm kind of thinking maybe I should have bought an APEXI filter now though!!
there have been a few ppl taking their K&n filters out after reading similar articles
Are they seriously suggesting that you get a 14bhp gain by simply changing the filter? I apologise for being a little skeptical about their figures...
Anyone care to comment?
it fairly simple to assume that if you put in a steel mesh filter like blitz, as the holes are bigger, they will let through more crud (technical term!!)
Is it possible to get a performance filter that does not have any oil. ( i know K&N is oiled)
Is Apexi oiled? Can you get a Apexi oiled for the Vectra?
wonder if you can get an apexi panel filter ? Looks like for japenese cars only.

I haven't heard of any bad results, but as above, several people have removed their K&N filters just in case....
Interestingly, it says on the box my K&N came in "will not invalidate vehicle warranty".....wonder what Vx would make of that if my MAF got killed by a bit of dirt that somehow made it through?
As I said before on this subject,my maf failed using the vauxhall paper filter from new to around 17k.I then fitted the K&N panel and had 30k trouble free until I sold the car.
Does any one know,
Are all vectra-c panel filters the same size? Or does it vary from engine to engine.
Which one should I get??
