Thumbs up More Air Restriction From Vauxhall

hi all, dont no if this had been mentioned before bit i noticed before when washing my car, that the grill has a restricter on the left hand side and when the bonnet is shut it covers the air inlet mouth, so if you open the bonnet and have a look theres 3 cross headed screws just undo them an this black peice of plastic comes off, so now when you shut the bonnet, the air inlet should be able to get more air in, well at higher speeds anyway, another free air mod , just to let you know mines a sri cdti 150 2005

This has been mentioned in the past...THe theory is if we remove it, the engine will run cold and loose power. Spoons looked into this a while back.

The face lift is very different, the intake is completely blocked. The only way to open a direct path to the intake as with the pre-face lift is to get out a knife and remove a bit of plastic from behind the grill. I did this and you can't see the hole at all but it allow cold air to feed straight in.

I cut away the parts of the grill with a dremmil on my 2.2 dti vec c to improve the air feed - and also some of the metal under the bonnet. No more **** in the filter box than usual. Seamed to work, it reached and passed the 150 bhp mark that I was desperate to get to as all the 1.9's were more powerful. When i replaced the grill with an Irmy one it was already fully open anyway.
