    Default Using mobile phone

    Hi all,

Does anyone know of a way to use the mobile phone in-car via the stereo or similar? You know - the type where you can make a call or answer one using your car stereo and/or speakers without actually having to use the phone handset itself.

    Any ideas?

you could also replace your head unit for a bluetooth one with phone function - Sony do a couple - MEX-BT2500 and MEX-BT5000

I've just replaced my Garmin C310 sat nav with the Garmin C550 that has bluetooth. Saves me changing the headunit for awhile.

I don't really want to change the headunit. If there's any kind of receiver that would plug into it, that would be ideal.

Just get a Parrot kit or a Nokia bluetooth kit and either install it yourself or get someone to do it (its a simple job so shouldn't cost much either).

There's loads of threads on here about car kits, take a look at a few and you'll get the idea.

You can get a cheap parrot kit for about £50-£60 if you shop around, dead easy to fit, stereo out, power from cigi lighter, find a place for mic and control buttons and all done. The sound will come from car speakers and mute the radio when it rings. You can set them up for voice dialing and answering.

Thanks guys. Seen one on Amazon for £100 - that has the graphical display and everything. Can you clip it onto the air vents or something? Don't really want it in the car the whole time for security reasons.

It is not really removable, if you wanted to steal it you would have to cut the wire and render it useless or rip the hole dash out.

They're hard-wired, unless you go for the ghey ciggy lighter plug-in type, which are in all honesty rubbish.

People don't nick hands-free kits out of cars, because all the gubbins are fitted behind the dash - all that's visable is the wired in control unit.

You could always go for the CK3000 Evo - all it has is two tiny buttons. I have the old CK3000, and you'd hardly know it was there the panel is so small.
