Default A quick non-vaux techie question (pug 307)

I'm driving an '02 Pug 307 HDi temporarily and every now and again it brings up the message 'ABS Fault' on the screen following by 'ASP/ESP Fault' and leaves the ABS and 'skid' icon lights on the dash. Any ideas where to start with this or how to sort the problem?

Lol @ french jokes. I don't like the car to be honest but it's getting me around till I get myself another Vectra!

Wheel sensors, sounds like a good place to start. I'm not very mechanical with cars, but do you think this is something I could try myself? Take the wheels off one by one and check/clean the sensors?

It might be the cr*p car warning light; what you need to do, is go and find the person that gave you the car and insert it up their bottom, while demanding a different one.

yep , whip the wheel off and clean the sensor , french cars get a lot of stick but they are no less reliable than most others , i had a grand scenic that i did not want to give back , and would have another .

old dears ZX over 100k owned from new , and never put a foot wrong , doubt even a golf would do that , shame she drowned it , when i get round to it , it will be back on the road , 307's are pretty good on the handling front as well.

I had a 306 where the abs light came on, and it turned out to be the blocks on the driveshaft (that the sensor detects) had come off. They were kind of clipped around the shaft. It meant a new driveshft, believe it or not (cv joint, the lot!). The new one had the blocks cast onto the shaft, solving the problem. I would have thought they would have designed the cure onto the new 307, but who knows?
