    Default spraying with aerosols

I am going to fit a new front wing to my daughters astra. To ensure a good fit it will be a genuine Vauxhall part and I propose to paint it myself using aerosols. These will be obtained from the Vauxhall parts department.

Because these aerosols are only 150mL, and quite costly, I will need quite a few, therefore I am proposing to use larger size, and I hope cheaper, cans from "Halfords" for thefirst few coats.

My question is without knowing what type of paint both types of can are filled with will there be any reaction between them once applied.

I am also going to use large cans of primer from "Halfords" and will leave the inner surface of the wing in primer.

Can anyone find fault with my approach or do you think it is okay.

    Comments welcome,thanks.

Seriously mate, don't do it. You really need a good finish on a wing in my opinion. It won't be that much to have it sprayed professionally, so get a bodyshop to do it matey.

What year/colour Astra is it, I'm sure you'll be able to get one from a breakers cheaper than buying a new wing and spraying it with Halfords paint.

you'd be better getting a cheap *** wing or a second hand one and having it proffessionally sprayed.
The slight missalignement would look better than an aerosol sprayed wing!

    Thanks for the replies.

I was only going to build the first few layers of the colour coat with Halfords paint to get some depth without the expense of the Vauxhall paint and then apply a couple of coats with the Vauxhall supplied cans, to give me the correct colour match. I was more worried about the mixing of two different brands of paint giving reacting with each other.
