    Forgive me, first post.

How would I go about boosting the power on my Veccy?

By trading it in for a 1.9 CDTi

Sorry m8, could not help myself
There are really not many gains to be had from the old lump, you can do the airbox mod (see How2 section) fit a K&N filter, and then go for a tuning box which will get you up to around 125bhp (and cost close on £350 in total ) other than that, not a lot else.

You can't get a cheap, or reliable tuning box for the Y20DTH. You'll need a VP44 box that wires into the ECU directly, and you may get 120hp if you're lucky. They're about £300, plus you need to bodge them into the loom.

You're best getting a remap, which will see a quoted 130hp/210lb-ft. But then again, decatting my Astra got the figures quoted below. Torque is just rediculous. 25mph in 4th up a steep hill with 5 people in the car is easy, no stuggling.

I'm planning on getting mine remapped soon as I'll be keeping it for the forseeable future, mostly to get rid of the flat spot around 2500rpm.

You could always get a hybrid turbo, larger core intercooler (If you can fit it!), samco hoses(Or similar) full larger bore stainless exhaust system with decat from turbo down, custom remap (If you can find somewhere that can do the hybrid ecu) then start on making the car lighter with carbon fibre panels. Its not really worth doing much else unless you go serious money to blow and if you had that you would have the 3.0 v6 or the vxr!

You can get a Lexmaul box for about £500, that plugs in rather than having to cut anything. It can give you upto 138bhp with other mods but the fuel economy will drop quite a bit.
