Default Power steering warning light !!!!!!!!

Was out last night and my power steering fluid level warning light come on. i looked in my hand book and it says to consult a vx dealer. Is this something which can be done easily by myself or do you have to take it in.

Sorry guys but im a bit blonde when it comes to cars. I know how to drive, just dont know how to fix them when they go wrong.

    Cheers

Check the fluid level first mate. If it's low have a look around for leaks. If it's fine then take it to the dealer for a spot of tech 2ing

it's under the drivers side headlight..the best way to get at it is to remove the front bumperskin, see the how-2 section for details on it's removal..then you can easily get to the pump and check it's level.... bumperskin removal takes about 20 mins the 1st time, then about 5 mins the next time....

Was it def the power steering light or a big steering wheel and an ! mark (i have it next to which gear as mine's an auto)? If so it could be a multitude of things and nothing to do with power steering!

Sorry for laymans terms but I had this alot until new cim fitted and don't get it now! Perhaps a mechanic might help..................

I'm having the same problem Mines going into the dealers as they have just done some work on the bumper and seem to have knocked a sensor.

Well on the small screen next to the rev counter it has a steering wheel with a ! but then when i first start the car it cones on the centre console screen saying "check power steering fluid level" or something like that.

    Smile Power steering fluid

It is probably the power steering fluid level as my veccy had it and the stealers sorted it when it went in for a service. I asked them how they filled it and they said:

Took bumper off and the reservoir was below the driver's side headlight, easily filled from there.

Apparently you can get to it via the driver's wheel arch but my hubby had no luck, spilt fluid all over the floor.
