    Default Help......With a Cockerel!

This is not a joke or a wind up!

Our neighbours, for reason's known only to themselves keep Chickens and Cockerel's in their garden, they even had a goat! Now, as you all know, a Cockerel starts crowing at Sun Up, and dont finish til Sun Down. Couple this to 8 maybe 10 Chickens making chciken noises, it is getting beyond a joke!

Is there any law stopping people keeping farm animals at a Residential Address??

What really annoys me though, is when they are in the garden, they put a cover over the Cockeral's Cage so it dont crow! They are Doler's who dont work, so the Chickens and Cockeral are at it all day, except when they are in the garden, and as i am off work for 8 weeks at the moment, its driving me up the wall!!

I have even thought about an Air Rifle, Night Sight and take it out, i am getting that desperate!!

    Any Idea's anyone!

****** hell mate, where in LB are you?

I've got a solution. My brother has this habit of stealing things / doing stupid things religiously every friday after he's been on the suace in shades. You give me the address and i'll put him up to it!

Complain to the council. They will ask you to keep a diary of the noise and then investigate the complaint. It comes under "noise pollution" withing the Environmental Services Department i think.

Ah, the Hare. Was in there Friday night - bit more full of young boys now than it used to be but still one of my fave pubs.

In all seriousness, probably as Tony (Caterman) says, get onto the council. Perhaps do this initially and get their advice on it. You know we have an "envirocrime" unit round our parts now that covers noise...

If the house is fairly modern, (sort of 60's onwards) it may be in the deeds that the keeping of livestock including chickens is prohibited - it is in my deeds. However, like most open plan estates preventing hedges, walls and keeping caravans in the driveway no-one takes any notice of this. As above, this is a potential ASBO situation and the council is the first port of call. If the accommodation is rented then it may be a condition of rental that livestock is not kept.

My next door neighbour also kept chickens and we used to have the same problem except that it's an ex farmhouse and they're allowed to do so. This doesn't help you but the hen population was reduced by:

    1) Our flat coat retriever escaping and frightening a few to death (we never got caught....)
    2) Our psychopathic cat finding that fresh chicken was on the lunch menu (a bit difficult to explain this one as when he came round to complain, our smug looking cat turned up at the wrong monent with chicken feathers all over his mouth)
    3) Finally a local fox did the decent thing and what foxes do best

No more chickens, but now I have to find a way of stopping the continuous dog barking. The neighbour is also unemployed but as he is a struck - off solicitor, taking action might just be a bit more difficult.....

Do you want to rent a psycho cat? very cheap and very friendly (unless you are either a chicken or another cat)

Best of luck - noise nuisance is extremely wearing (like a chinese water torture) - nature sorted out our problems but I hope it is soon resolved for you
