    First off, a few things:-

Has your optical DVD/CDR drive vanished from your Windows Explorer altogether?.

As in, when you go to "My computer" can you see your "C" drive and also your DVD/CDR drive in there?.

What happens if you look in your BIOS at your PC's startup?. Is your optical drive listed in there?.

Depending on the above, you might want to try this:-

    Hope that helps.

I have a similar problem on my work pc - my CD/DVD is there & visible in my computer but doesn't recognise anything I put in it - unless!! go to 'Device Manager' select the drive properties, Volumes, Populate. I can then rocognise that disc but the problem comes back if I change discs. Strangely I have no problem accessing it through NERO ???

Dump the drive in system properties, then re-boot and it should show up.

After removing this the drives worked !!
