    Default Sky HD

Thinking about getting Sky Hd - Got a letter off them today saying seeing as your a valuable customer etc etc, we can do the SkyHD box for £199 instead of £299.

Has anyone got this, and is it worth the step up from the normal Sky+?

We have a HD tele at the mo, so it should look impressive when watching the Rugby League on it!

It's the £10 extra a month I object to. Sky is dear enough.

The Sky+ subscription has gone, but SkyHD subscription is still needed.

If I didn't have Sky+ I would get a HD box without the HD subscription. You should (IIRC) get the BBC channel then - but none of the Sky ones. And you can store more recordings.

I upgraded 8 months ago to SKY HD and yes if you have a HD TV it works very well with good clear pictures. Is it worth the extra £10 for the channels you get errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr No.I have just had a letter from SKY reference price increases and its going to cost me around £55 just to watch TV so I will be cancelling my HD subscription. People have said since day one that channels will improve and the subcription for HD will be dropped but I cant see that happening just yet.

The memory is 3 or 4 times bigger so thats one bonus but the big one is films,5.1 surround and dvd quality picture thats what sold it for me,the only downside is the hdmi is not a loop through so if you have more than one hdmi source your tv needs more than one hdmi input or a switch box is needed.

No Sky - object to lining Murdoch's pockets.

    What's wrong with freeview anyway,

Same here m8, i've had Sky TV since 1989 in the old Amstrad SRX100 days I have paid them a lot of money since then and will NOT pay another £10p/mth on principle I waited until they stopped charging the extra for Sky+ before i got it.

Get an eye test as well, no point having HDTV if you are viewing through blurballs.
