Default what to do once vx warranty expires

this has probably been asked before but don't think there's been a definitive answer...

Bought 55 plate sri 150 last June- non network q, with 5k miles and balance of warranty.

Now up to just under 50k miles- will be out of warranty in august

I understand from network q that I can't get a warranty from them ( although if i traded the car in now to a NetQ dealer, THEY could put a warranty on it..)

But I'd like something- Sureguard warranty a kind of watered down netQ warranty administered by the same people- dont want to go to Warranty Direct as you have to pay upfront and claim back the cost later-

Any one else been in the same situation- how did you resolve it?

    Thanks in advance

You have to ask yourself the question about finances.

Warranty companies make money out of selling warranty's. ie The cost of the warranty will be more than their expected outlay + operating costs + profit margin. On a large scale this has to be true.

There will be winners and losers in the warranty cost / repair cost.

As the company wants to make a profit and has overheads, it is more than likely that you will lose out financially (if you look at it statistically of course) if you took ANY warranty at all.

However, people don't go simply on statistics.

The big question therefore, is will YOUR car cost more to repair at the garage (should anything go wrong) than the cost of a warranty?

I don't buy warranties for this exact reason, as I don't think I would benefit as I don't use garages.

As a high mileage driver I buy a warranty at time of purchase that covers me throughout the life of the vehicle

If you do not need and rely on your car, then the money you save by not needing a warranty can be used if and when you need it

    Alternatively, trade-in, and trade up

I had a third party warranty on my previous Mondeo, after the original warranty expired at 60K miles, and it wasn't worth the paper it was written on!
They only paid for the failed parts, and labour associated to that part
A failed exhaust valve cost me £4500, and they paid just £350
Thankfully though Ford agreed to buy the car back from me as the car had not yet had its first MoT and had never seen such an engine failure
