    Default Finally, I got a go in a C :)

Guy who works in the unit next to ours normally drives a Hyundai Coupe. I was in working on Saturday and he came in with his wife's motor, a 05 Vectra Active 1.8.

He gave me a wee spin around the business park and up the road a bit, must say the Vectra is definately on my shopping list when I change the car later in the year. The 1.8 wasn't bad, but I'd say the fuel consumption wouldn't be great the way I drive.

I've got a 1.8 Active and fuel economy isn't bad if you have a heavy right foot.

I bought a 1.2 Corsa C a few years ago, and it drove me mad, having to rev the nuts off it to get anywhere, and that was 80hp. I think if I was getting a petrol, it'd be a 2.2Direct. That sounds like an engine better suited to the Vectra. Plus I'm not a fan of timing belts, been there done that, had the repair bills.

I was thinking I'd have to be revving the nuts out of mine after having V6's in my last 2 cars but it moves very well IMO for what it is, little slow off the mark but once its going its not too bad.

I guess the 1.8VVT is a better engine than the old Z18XE, and I'd probably end up with one of those if I was changing.

I've Just moved from a MG ZS180 V6 with over 200bhp to a Vectra 'C' 2.2 Direct SRi and to be honest the only thing I miss from the MG would be the bottom end grunt. I personally think the Vectra is a better car to drive.

Or there's always the 2.0T! - no belts and certainly no slouch!
