    Default Any mobile fone techys?

Can anybody shed a bit of light on a problem my mate is having with her fone? It is a Sony Ericsson K750i and up until recently she could receive picture messages as normal. Over the last few days the following behaviour has started.
When she gets a pic message, she opens it as usual but the fone says 'downloading' and a progress bar appears, shortly after this it dials the fone number of the sender to complete the download. This of course, takes money off her fone. Also if she misses a call, her fone automatically starts to dial the caller back And lastly, when texting somebody by clicking on 'reply', as she is typing out the text the fone starts to dial the number of the recipient.

This is very wierd so question is, is it settings incorrect or a fone software fault. It may already be too late anyway cos if I know her, it will be in thousands of small pieces now lol.

    Thanks for any help guys

Try taking the battery out and then reboot or try the web site for a firmware update even if it is current overwrite it, it might work.

Has she got much in the way of downloaded pictures/video on it, it could be one of these acting as a dialer, pull all the stuff she has on the phone into a folder on the computer, don't open the folder but scan it for virus', then format the memory, both phone and card if she has one, see how the phone behaves after that.

Blimey that sounds a bit sinister VV I'll tell her thanks for that.

I'm not saying that will be it for sure, but it's one way of eliminating suspects, hth.

SOunds like on the early symbian phones like Nokia 6600 someone cracked a game but put a "virus" in it to keep texting a premium rate no.

A k750 doesnt have an operating system as such though

I would go with a factory reset via the settings menu which will delete any data on it. (Inc No.s / Photo's etc so anything important back up) could also do the update of software via sonyericsson.com

If you get stuck shout as i'm fairly good with SE phones, actually flashing a W800 now from scratch as it had the flashing white screen.

    As maddog said...

Try the master reset first - obviously back up any numbers and photos.

If that fails then consider a reflash. My last phone was a K750 and I reflashed it to debrand the Vodafone customisation - made it a much better phone, basically how it would have been from SE.

TBH I did say that to her in our initial conversation about it. It can't hurt to reflash it so she aint got anything to lose really.
